Short Term Rehabilitation
Often times, after older adults have a hospital stay for surgery, stroke, or other illnesses, they are not ready to return home after being discharged. We offer rehabilitation support seven days a week by our in-house team of physical, occupational, and speech therapists. Our team works to rebuild the skills needed before returning home.
Our inpatient rehabilitation program is tailored to meet the needs and capabilities of each patient and services are provided in our fully equipped sunlit gym overlooking the Jamaicaway. Treatment is designed to facilitate our residents' and patients' independence and promotes healing and the highest level of functioning.
Our therapists support patients who have experienced, but not limited to, the following:
- Hip/knee replacement and shoulder repair
- Multiple fractures or trauma
- Spinal injuries
- Arthritis
- Amputations, including prosthetics
- Stroke (transient ischemic attack – TIA or cerebral vascular accident – CVA)
- Peripheral nerve damage (neuropathy)

"I just wanted to send a note of appreciation for the excellent care I received for five weeks at Sherrill House. The skilled nursing care was outstanding! The nutrition team kept urging me to increase my protein intake so I would get stronger - and the meals were so good! PT and OT got me on my feet and helped me visualize coming home after major spinal surgery. Thank you!"
