Recreational Therapy

Sherrill House offers a comprehensive recreational program for all residents, tailored to meet individual needs, which is offered 7 days a week. Programs include exercise and movement groups, pet therapy visits, leisure education, cognitive fitness groups such as trivia and word games, sensory stimulation activities, community outings and extensive music therapy. Our many volunteers and students allow us to increase the number and frequency

of individual visits, as well as provide extra assistance in groups and activities. Our 24 hour companion radio service supplements programming for those who prefer to spend time in their rooms. Sherrill House also serves as a clinical training site for students from Wheelock College’s Human Growth and Development course, further enriching the program.

Recreation specialists offer programs on the Special Care Unit up to twelve hours per day, 7 days a week
