Music Therapy

Sherrill House has the distinction of having a certified full-time music therapist on staff to offer music therapy services throughout the center. Musical experiences are designed to fit the abilities and needs of each resident; to restore, improve or maintain physical, mental, cognitive, emotional and spiritual health. Group sessions as well as individual visits are provided to enhance residents’ overall health and well-being.

Special attention is given to those with dementia by offering daily groups during the late afternoon “sundowning” time to decrease agitation and to encourage enjoyment. Sherrill House also serves as a clinical training site for music therapy interns from Berklee College of Music and Lesley University, further enriching the program.
